President Joe Biden used the backdrop of Monday’s MLK Day holiday to take dead aim at law-abiding citizens who support the Second Amendment and the precious freedoms it granted. During his address he slammed the armed public, taunting them by saying they need much better weaponry to stand against the federal government.

Addressing the National Action Network’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast in Washington, the president leveled criticism and even mockery at gun owners.

He referenced a famous quote from Thomas Jefferson when he said he loves those “who talk about the tree of liberty is water of the blood of patriots.” Jefferson, of course, wrote most of the Declaration of Independence, signed the Constitution, and was the third president in our nation’s history.

Then Biden added, “If you need to work about taking on the federal government, you need some F-15s. You don’t need an AR-15.”

In July 2021, the president said during a White House speech that the people would have to have “maybe some nuclear weapons” to defend their freedoms.

He also falsely asserted that from the moment the Second Amendment was passed, there were restrictions on who could own a firearm and what type of weapon they could possess. The truth is the federal government first enacted gun control legislation in 1934.

Biden Uses MLK Day Address to Slam Gun Owners The Second Amendment principally existed as a tool for citizens to rise up and overthrow their leaders if the government became corrupt. Time and time again, the Founding Fathers spoke of the ability and even necessity for an armed citizenry to stand up against the tyranny of an overbearing government.

But this fact was lost on the president, who mocked those who exercise their rights to keep and bear arms.

Biden also leveled his sights on the gun industry, claiming that there is a monetary motivation for Second Amendment advocates to fight for the legality of high-capacity magazines and semiautomatic rifles.

“There is no socially redeeming value (for semiautomatic weapons),” Biden told the Washington audience. Falling back on his familiar rhetoric, the president declared that “deer aren’t wearing Kevlar vests out there, what the hell do you need an assault- no, I’m serious.”

He further called for federal limits on the number of rounds that may be in a magazine, saying “there’s no, no need for any of that.”

It was then that he launched into mockery for those who believe that an armed citizenry is a failsafe against tyranny. After saying that the populace needs F-15s to resist Washington, he added “think about the rationale for this. It’s about money.”

Then he emphatically declared, “I’m going to get assault weapons banned. I did it once, I’m going to do it again.”

Of course, what the president referred to were AR and AK-style weapons that are popular among the shooting public. These are what the uninformed choose to call “assault weapons.”

Biden then repeated his call for a nationwide ban on high-capacity magazines.

Mocking the ability and even right of the people to defend their constitutional liberties is beneath the office of the president. And it is far from the truth to insinuate that the only reason firearms are legal is for hunting purposes.

The founders of this great nation knew firsthand the necessity to be able to resist the overreach of a powerful government. They courageously stood up to the all-powerful British Empire with little more than their muskets and their wits. It is no wonder that these same founders saw fit to protect gun owners in the Bill of Rights.

But flash forward to 2023. Now the White House criticizes that stand and overtly tells the people they do not stand a chance against all-powerful Washington.

And while no one is seriously calling for an armed revolt, patriotic Americans know that they must protect their freedom to defend their lives, property, and even liberties should the situation arise. And unlike what the president asserted on Monday, it is their constitutional right to do so.
