This self-defense story left me conflicted like never before. One moment, I wanted to jump and scream, “Hell, YEAH!” but then came a crucial point that made me question everything.

Why did she do this?

Being brave and tenacious in the face of danger is admirable, but if Rachel Smiglewski were my girlfriend and told me she chased down three armed robbers in flip-flops without a gun, I’d give her a serious look of concern.

There’s a fine line between bravery and wasted bravery. Once the robbers already had her keys and were running away, you might argue that she was feeding her ego a bit, which is understandable.

People are genuinely sick and tired of being victims. We’re fed up with criminals taking what we work hard for, and yes, it makes us angry. We want to protect our dignity. But chasing after armed robbers without a gun is like trying to mop the ocean and thinking you succeeded just because you started right before low tide.

Rachel Smiglewski needs a gun because her daring act won’t deter some criminals, perhaps even many of them. This incident happened in Michigan, an open-carry state where you don’t need a permit to openly carry a gun. Obtaining a concealed carry permit is easier here than in many other states. If she had a gun, she would have been in a much better position to defend herself.

And as soon as she bought a gun, she would quickly become part of the Pew Collectors Anonymous club.

But pay attention to how the powers that be only praise a self-defense story when the hero doesn’t have a gun. When someone uses a gun in self-defense, their story often goes ignored. For instance, consider this hero who was recognized even by the president.

However, when a woman defended herself with a gun, Joe Biden didn’t congratulate her or call to thank her because it didn’t fit the narrative of only celebrating those who defend themselves without guns.

If you don’t believe me, listen to what former NY mayor Michael Bloomberg said after an armed citizen stopped a church mass shooting. It’s clear they are so anti-gun that they’ll praise you only if you defend your life without one.

Rachel Smiglewski deserves praise for her bravery in fighting back against armed robbers, but she also needs to understand the importance of being armed because she might not be as lucky next time.

Sitting in her car with the windows down while on her phone wasn’t smart, but she more than made up for that lapse in judgment with her bravery and tenacity, even if some aspects of her actions were questionable.

What do you all think? Do you agree with what this woman did? If not, what would you have done and why?

They say the first step to solving a problem is admitting there is one.

Well, the Pew Collectors Anonymous is your way of admitting you have a problem buying guns but you have no intentions of solving that problem, because Pew Collectors Anonymous isn’t about solving a problem; it’s about embracing it.
