The story of the Good Samaritan recounts the intervention of a person who assisted another in a time of great need when most in society would simply keep walking. The man had no personal connection to the victim and was not in the same social strata, yet he rendered aid anyway.

On Saturday morning, another incident that harkens back to this encouraging intervention came from Ormond Beach, Florida.

According to the police, 36-year-old Marvette Perry brazenly attempted to steal a couple’s vehicle at an Exxon gas station. The 74-year-old intended victim reportedly stopped at the business to use the restroom, but as he exited his car, Perry rushed up, pushed him away and jumped into the driver’s seat.

This violent attack was witnessed by Adam McDaniels, who was visiting the Sunshine State from High Point, North Carolina. He was pumping gas with his toddler in the back seat while his fiancé went inside the store.

As he refueled his vehicle and was confronted by the alleged attempted carjacking, the concealed carry holder sprang into action.

McDaniels told reporters that he had to act quickly. “I got out with my firearm; I ran over, pointed my firearm with a laser at her chest and told her not to reach for any weapons.”

The laser apparently did the trick. “As soon as she saw my laser on her chest, she stopped, became stone cold, didn’t move or speak. I tried to get her out of the car, but she didn’t do anything until the cops got there.”

As this occurred, the elderly man who was pushed aside grabbed Perry’s foot to prevent her from driving away.

McDaniels explained that he is from an area where people look out for one another, and he could not simply watch others become victims.

How many people would have simply carried on with their business? Not McDaniels, who courageously chose to step up and use his lawful weapon to thwart a violent attack on complete strangers.
