In a new development that would surely send shockwaves through certain political leaders in New York and California, law-abiding Americans are now able to conveniently purchase ammunition through vending machines in Alabama and Oklahoma grocery stores.

Customers may also take home rounds of their favorite cartridges along with a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk.

The vending machines are presently in six locations in the two states, and early reports of their success will likely bring expansion into several other stores.

The machines utilize artificial intelligence to confirm the customer’s identity through the implementation of card scanning and facial recognition technology, and the buyer’s age is verified.

The potential buyer inserts their ID into the machine, which then does a scan to match the person’s face to the identification.

American Rounds owns the innovative machines and places them in grocery stores. The company’s website explains that its use of AI technology “ensures that all transactions comply with federal and local regulations, maintaining the highest standards for responsible sales.”

The company produced a promotional video that featured Terry Stanley, COO of Fresh Value in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He described the company as “super excited” to premier the first such kiosk.

“We’re always looking for ways to give our customers another reason to come visit our stores. Anything we can do to help them make their shopping trips easier, based on the feedback we’ve gotten from customers today, they are so excited about us having this ammo kiosk.”

The Tuscaloosa Thread reported that the new machines have been vetted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and are perfectly legal to operate.

Tuscaloosa City Council President Kip Tyner said he fielded calls about the vending machines, adding, “I thought it was a joke, but it’s not.”
