A group of pro-Second Amendment legislators penned a sharp letter demanding the end of the federal government policy declaring gun violence equates to a “public health crisis.”

Fox News Digital reported that fifteen House members, led by Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN), asked Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to eradicate this stance and eliminate any vestiges of gun control remaining under his authority.

Harshbarger’s letter made powerful demands of the federal agency. “We write to you today to protect the Second Amendment from attacks by a partisan and weaponized Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) — which became a dangerous threat to gun ownership under the Biden Administration.”

The missive directly addressed the so-called “crisis.”

“Treating firearm-related violent crime as a public health issue may start with a study about gun control but ends with tyranny,” the letter declared.

A federal law established in 1996 prohibits the government from advocating gun control. However, it was amended seven years ago in a spending bill to permit the CDC to study “gun violence.”

The lawmakers stridently asserted that the Biden administration far exceeded the parameters of federal law.

Over $1 million was allocated for studying legal gun ownership’s links to risk along with funding for what were described as California and Michigan’s gun confiscation programs.

And the resulting reports thoroughly brushed aside the daily uses of legal firearms by law-abiding citizens for noble causes.

For example, statistics demonstrating how weapons are regularly used for self-defense against violent criminals were omitted from the “Firearm Injury and Mortality Prevention Research” report.

The NIH further claimed in 2022 that gun violence created “an urgent and significant public health crisis.” This, of course, opened yet another doorway for anti-gun zealots to pursue their gun control agenda.
