The naysayers may be loud and enjoy a virtual monopoly on the mainstream media, but ordinary Americans simply don’t believe their messaging.

Data released by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) clearly proves this. The center’s numbers show that concealed carry permit applications continue to reach record highs, though they are down a minuscule percentage from 2022’s peak.

That year saw a record total thanks mainly to widespread civil unrest and the COVID lockdowns.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) noted the upward trajectory of gun ownership among Americans with an interesting statistic. More U.S. citizens have become first-time gun owners since 2020 than the population of Florida.

A staggering 22.3 million people rejected the narrative pushed by anti-gun forces and their media allies and took the plunge. Now, they take control of being their own first responders and exercising their constitutional rights to defend themselves from violent crime.

The aforementioned civil unrest and movements to marginalize police protection convinced vast numbers of Americans that it was their personal responsibility to ensure their safety.

After all, if police are systematically removed from the streets, it stands to reason that the good citizens are less protected and thus less safe.

It is only logical that they are determined to take control of their defense. Many who were on the ideological fence decided to ignore shrill warnings from anti-gunners and legally purchase a firearm for protection.

It must also be noted that there has been an explosion in the number of states that have enacted constitutional carry.

Seven years ago, that number was only 13. Now, it stands at 29, and a remarkable 157.6 million Americans enjoy the right to carry without asking the government for permission to exercise their Second Amendment liberties.

The U.S. became a majority constitutional carry nation when Florida became the 26th state to reestablish this freedom last year.

Nebraska joined the ranks following the Sunshine State in 2023, and Louisiana and South Carolina enacted constitutional carry earlier this year.

The fact that concealed carry permit applications are only down less than 2% from the record high is proof positive that the country treasures the right to armed self-defense.

Despite the now 29 states that no longer require a permit to carry, 8.25% of American adults possess this legal permission.

This is a remarkable number considering the severe restrictions that remain in place in anti-gun bastions such as California, New York, and Illinois.

There is also a strong trend toward diversification among permit holders nationwide.

For example, the number of permits issued to females increased by 255% from 2012 through this year compared to 120% for men. In the same period, permits issued to Black Americans surged 283.9% more than those issued to White Americans.

Asians received carry permits at a rate of 219.2% higher than Whites.

Even with these staggering numbers proving the explosion of support for exercising Second Amendment rights, the data undoubtedly shows fewer concealed carry permits than were actually issued.

Consider Alabama, which does not even track these numbers. Then there are states such as New Hampshire, which only records permits for non-residents.

For others, the numbers are so murky that data is gleaned from examining NICS background checks, which is suitable for estimates but only partially accurate.

As further evidence, the National Rifle Association (NRA) reports that concealed carry permit holders are even more law-abiding than law enforcement. How so?

A simple breakdown of the numbers shows that Florida’s revocation rate was a tiny eight-one hundredths of one percent of permit holders. In other words, these good citizens are overwhelmingly law-abiding.

All of this is terrible news for those who wish to strip constitutional gun rights away from the people.
