When the torch passes from one presidential administration to another, there are always changes, and Second Amendment enthusiasts had at least one piece of good news after Inauguration Day.

The controversial Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP), spawned during former President Joe Biden’s (D) White House tenure, is apparently no more.

The OGVP website has been scrubbed with only a 404 message remaining. Previously, it featured the first annual report from the controversial office and an announcement of its formation, but now it displays “page not found.”

This did not sit well with gun control proponents.

Strident anti-gun rights organization Everytown posted a message lamenting the passing of the OGVP. Its disappearance made it “clear this Administration works for the gun lobby, not the American people.”

And Moms Demand Action wailed, “This move comes as no surprise, but it serves as a stark reminder that we must do all we can to preserve the progress that we’ve made on gun safety over the past decade.”

Understand that if the office had been structured to take concrete steps to improve public safety, no one would have cheered louder than Second Amendment advocates.

However, it was staffed solely by anti-gunners and served no purpose other than to parrot their talking points against the right to keep and bear arms.

Speaking at the NRA convention in Dallas last May, now-President Donald Trump (R) told attendees that the Bill of Rights would be on the ballot in November and that it is “under siege.”

The then-candidate added, “We need the Second Amendment for safety. Forget about going hunting and all the things you do—we need it for safety. Because you know the bad guys are not giving up their guns.”

Several lawmakers also blasted the office, noting the continuous contact between staffers and the anti-gun lobby. There are much better uses of taxpayer dollars than funding a White House group that opposes constitutional rights.
