A homeowner on Honeysuckle Lane in Pelham, Alabama had their peaceful evening shattered recently when an aggressive naked man attempted to force entry into their home.
On February 15th, a 29-year-old man allegedly stabbed a person on nearby Camellia Drive and began frantically running from house to house. According to Pelham Police Chief Pat Cheatwood, the man ran in an excited state from house to house, ringing doorbells and pounding on doors.
Investigators state that when the man reached the home on Honeysuckle Lane he began frantically banging on the door.
The unsuspecting homeowner opened the door and was forced to struggle with the man when he attempted to force his way into the home.
The man, later identified as 29-year-old Carlton James Brown of Pelham, Alabama, was shot and killed during the attempted breach.
The chief also confirmed that an off-duty police officer did live at the home on Honeysuckle Drive, but declined to comment on if or how the officer was involved in the incident.
No motivation for the stabbing or the trespassing was immediately known, but police were continuing to investigate the unusual event.
Chief Cheatwood also confirmed that the stabbing victim will survive the attack. The chief additionally stated that the shooting appears to be in self-defense.
