NRA-ILA Warns Texas and Michigan Races Threaten 2A Rights

Election Day is here, and as with all midterm contests, there is plenty of handwringing about potential shifts in power and a new direction for Washington.

Real threats to hard-won Second Amendment freedoms prompted the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) Executive Director John Commerford to pen an op-ed for the Washington Examiner.

Gun rights group warns that elections have serious consequences for 2A rights

The head of the nation’s largest and oldest gun rights advocacy organization singled out two Senate races that could endanger the right to keep and bear arms.

“In the Lone Star State, Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico has spent his time on the campaign trail presenting himself as a pragmatic centrist, while simultaneously backing some of the most restrictive gun measures in the country,” Commerford declared.

The Texas candidate, according to the NRA-ILA, attempts to shroud his support for bans on modern sporting rifles and criminalization of private weapon sales.

Then there’s El-Sayed, a Democratic Socialists of America candidate vying for one of Michigan’s Senate seats.

“Recently unearthed videos show El-Sayed proposing to ‘tweak the Constitution’ and ‘amend the amendment’ to swap the right to bear arms for the right of government healthcare,” Commerford noted. “He also argued that the Second Amendment protects no individual right to self-defense, suggesting instead that firearm ownership be restricted solely to government forces–all after previously [wanting] to defund the police.”

Candidates often mask their animosity toward gun rights

No party or candidate holds a monopoly on supporting the Second Amendment. But their established records should weigh far more than 11th-hour conversions on the campaign trail where they suddenly rediscover the nation’s proud sporting tradition.

Not one defender of the Bill of Rights should be fooled.

They and their followers, once in office, quickly ditch the plaid shirts and old deer rifles for anti-gun legislation that will eviscerate gun rights for law-abiding citizens.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
