In this critical time for defending Second Amendment rights from leaders who want them eradicated, a startling new report revealed the high level of political clout held by hunters and gun owners that is going to waste.
Vote4America released data showing that as many as 10 million Americans who seemingly would naturally support gun rights positions and candidates who feel the same are not registered to vote.
And most are in crucial swing states that will decide the balance of power in Washington this year — and thus the future of gun rights in America. The parallels between these key states, which are vital to the interests of both major political parties, are startling.
For example, Women for Gun Rights lists Pennsylvania as the state with the most hunters and gun owners not registered to vote — 515,277. This is followed by Michigan with 370,619, North Carolina with 370,470, Georgia’s 350,897 and Wisconsin’s 338,884.
The rest of the top ten include Missouri, Virginia, Arizona, Nevada and Montana.
Most of these states are in the “toss-up” category when predicting which political party will win in November. And that means there is a prime opportunity for hunters and gun owners to take a stand and support candidates who stand for their constitutional rights.
Gabriella Hoffman hosts the District of Conservation podcast and recently commented on this phenomenon among a demographic that has a lot at stake in local and national elections.
She declared that many hunters and gun owners are vocal online about protecting their rights, especially concerning the Second Amendment. However, this does not always translate into action.
Hoffman observed, “They talk a great deal, often about preserving your rights, doing this — hunting — but a lot of people don’t follow through with voting.”
Gun owners and hunters are obviously worried about freedom, and most would certainly support crackdowns to make our communities safer as opposed to more meaningless gun control. For them, this is the year to walk the walk.
They say the first step to solving a problem is admitting there is one.
