Manufacturers are working non-stop to satisfy the increased demand for ammo. The shortage can be accredited to a number of factors.

For starters, there have been over eight million new gun owners within the past year.

In addition, there have been one million-plus new hunters that have entered the market.

nosler ammo shortage ammunition shortage in united statesTypical consumer behavior is buying in bulk when things get scarce which is why if you see three boxes on the shelf now, you would just buy all three when normally you would have bought just one.

More importantly, these new shooters and new hunters are actively participating.

The combination of new gun owners and existing gun owners have made products extremely scarce.

Other factors for the ammunition shortage include trying to disperse ammunition to everyone including independent dealers, retailers because if they have nothing to sell they won’t be in business. This includes allocating to the military and international deals.

Suppliers are actively making sure they keep the same quality standard they have had as a brand while trying to massively increase infrastructure, manpower, and running 24 hours

Excerpts from the video:

We’re working 24 hours a day and they are making more products than we’ve ever made as a company but there’s a big problem eight or nine million new gun owners, okay we’ve also seen numbers about a million-plus new hunters that’s a lot of people.

There were already 50 million in the system. 50 million active participants. That’s a lot of people, a lot of guns. Every company in the country, every single one of our competitors is working their tails off and we are doing our very best.

It just comes down to this you’re a gun owner, you go shooting, you go into the store-this is okay pre-covid okay. You bought a box of ammo right got a little scarce maybe you bought two now when you go in if you see three on the shelf are you gonna buy all three.

nosler-ammo-shortage-scarcity-ammunition-shortage-in-united-statesYou have a little bit of the fear, a little bit of the scarcity mentality.

Take into perspective the shelves, our daily flow rack that just fills the daily orders… well they’re empty.

We’ve done a really good job as a company taking care of our independent dealers and we allocate our product making sure everybody’s getting something because we got to take care of all these dealers to keep them in business.

So we’re trying to take care of everybody as best we can. We still have an international business.

One thing that I got to tell you there’s a lot of rumors out there like well the government’s taking this or it’s all going to the military. Well, no-no this is a consumer issue.
