Not every defensive gun use is in the U.S., and there are many instances around the globe where good people are pushed to use a firearm to protect life and property.
A recent report from South Africa detailed a courageous man who did exactly that last week.
Carjackers did not count on the father being armed
The Pinetown father and his family were reportedly the target of a gang of carjackers who at one point held a gun on his son, who was standing at the gate. The man and his daughter were in the car backing out of the driveway when the suspects opened fire.
Instead of hoping for the best, the dad pulled a ready firearm and took control of the situation. The suspects ran to their automobile and fled as fast as they could, but one paid for his mistake with his life.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza laid out the sequence of events. “The suspects opened fire, and the victim retaliated, fatally wounding one of the suspects. The remaining suspects fled the scene in their vehicle.”
Other local officials heaped praise on the protective father. “This man is a hero,” Marshall Security’s Andreas Mathios declared. “He firstly and instinctively made sure that his family was safe. He was consistently alert, and even though there was some sort of delay in returning fire when he was fired upon, at the right time he managed to return fire and neutralize the threat. I commend him for his actions.”

Authorities are investigating the incident, footage of which went viral on social media, and preparing charges of attempted murder and attempted carjacking for the suspects when they are apprehended.
Good people are the same everywhere. They want to live their lives and go about their business without being subjected to the tyranny of violent criminals.
And, when it comes to family, they will protect their loved ones with life and limb if necessary. Thanks to one South African man’s ready firearm and obvious courage, that ending did not happen.
