One neighborhood in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is likely to see a surge in gun ownership after an explosion of violence just before sunrise on Friday, during which dozens of shots were reportedly fired.
An armed resident who questionably confronted multiple suspects didn’t lose anything, but his neighbors couldn’t say the same.
Armed resident stepped outside to confront would-be thieves
According to investigators, a gang of car thieves hit the area, waking residents with a surprising outburst of gunfire at around 4:15 a.m. A man noticed the suspects on his Ring camera near his vehicle, and one appeared to be armed.
He grabbed his firearm and confronted them in the morning darkness, and one of the suspects fired at least one shot before bolting away. The homeowner was not struck and did not return fire.
Just a few minutes later, the group returned and raked the neighborhood with gunshots, striking multiple homes and vehicles. One man, Kyle Brooks, told local media that he was asleep with his wife and 18-month-old child when the night exploded in a hail of bullets.
The suspects stole his brand-new truck and another neighbor’s vehicle before getting away. No one was reportedly injured.

Brooks noted that the gang initially ran after being confronted by the armed homeowner before returning with vengeance. “Who cares about a vehicle? You can have it. But you’re gonna let shots off in a residential neighborhood, no regard for human life? It’s sad; it’s a shame.”
As for the man who confronted the suspects.
It is understandable to want to defend your property against violent criminals, but the wisdom of walking outside with a weapon against multiple suspects, one of whom appears to be armed, must be questioned. The moment they tried to enter the home; the situation would change instantly.
But, as Brooks said, a vehicle can be replaced.
Randomly firing dozens of shots in a dark residential neighborhood is the height of criminal irresponsibility. A bad situation could easily have been so much worse.
