DOJ Launches Investigation into NJ Town’s Permitting Delays

Short of outright bans and confiscation, anti-gun government officials are well-versed in devious ways to impede the right to keep and bear arms.

One of the most common schemes is to slow-walk the permitting process to the point where good citizens throw their hands up in frustration. Authorities make a show of honoring the Bill of Rights and issuing permits, but the foot-dragging is nothing more than a backdoor infringement.

With this in mind, the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division this week announced an investigation into Pennsauken, New Jersey’s pattern of “delays in issuing firearm licenses.”

Intentional delays in permitting are a denial of Second Amendment rights

The DOJ released a statement Wednesday, noting that the Constitution’s protections extend to carrying firearms outside of their home.

Refusing to issue permits, as city officials stand accused of, in a reasonable manner denies this fundamental right and is a prime example of infringing on this freedom.

“It is a violation of the Second Amendment for government officials to delay issuing permits to purchase or carry firearms,” the agency declared. “In 2022, the Supreme Court held in New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n, Inc. v. Bruen that a state’s permitting process is put towards ‘abusive ends’ when ‘lengthy wait times in processing license applications or exorbitant fees deny ordinary citizens their right to public carry.’”

DOJ’s investigation should be repeated in other jurisdictions

The DOJ added that the Pennsauken Township Police Department engages in “abusive ends” by purposefully limiting law-abiding citizens’ ability to carry legally.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon explained in the release that her office’s Second Amendment Section will probe the town’s actions “to discover if allegations of unconstitutional delays in firearm permitting are true, and if so, to fix it.”

The agency urged anyone who believes officials are denying their gun rights to speak up.

This is progress. No longer is the DOJ fighting for certain freedoms while allowing others to be trampled underfoot without so much as a glance.

There’s no better way to show your patriotism than with merch that speaks before you do.

Defend America is more than a name, it’s a stand for freedom, resilience, and the values this country was built on. Every tee, hat, and mug is a symbol of unapologetic pride. Wear it loud, wear it proud, and let the world know: freedom isn’t negotiable.
